Judith Grandes, LCSW, BCD, returns to Water Mill, N.Y.

WATER MILL, NY, May 18, 2011 /Education PR News/ -- Judith Grandes, LCSW, BCD, Psychotherapist, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in social work.

Ms. Grandes is a highly experienced psychotherapist with a private individual, couples, family and geriatric psychotherapy practice located at 325 Meeting House Lane in Southampton, N.Y. Her commitment to her patients always remains foremost in her mind - and she takes great care in assessing and treating them. Her goal is to work with them to create a safe, comfortable environment so one is able to understand issues, and facilitate therapeutic work that enables the patients to work through conflict and confusion towards a full and productive life.

As an allied professional, she serves in an appointed on-call position for psychiatric emergencies at Southampton Hospital. She also sets time aside to coordinate for elderly support, attend training sessions led by prominent psychiatrists and psychiatric social workers, and participate in research. Additionally, Ms. Grandes serves on various committees (including ethics), and taught and supervised psychiatric residents, psychologists and social work students in case work and family therapy.

She previously served as a clinical director, quality assurance and credentialing manager, and supervisor. In 1993, she worked at Kaiser Permanente of the NE where she spearheaded a compassionate diagnosis and triage delivery system for women diagnosed with breast cancer. Both a Couple's Group Therapy and Family Therapy was instituted. In addition, Ms. Grandes was for many years an instructor in the department of psychiatry at New York Hospital, Cornell Medical Center, a position of which she is most proud. She also developed, coordinated, and taught introductory courses for professionals in family therapy at the Ackerman Institute for the Family in New York City. She attributes her success to her commitment.

Ms. Grandes is a licensed clinical social worker in the State of New York and a Diplomate of the National Association of Social Workers. She completed postgraduate coursework at the Ackerman Institute for the Family after receiving a Master of Social Work from New York University Graduate School of Social Work (now The Silver School of Social Work at New York University). She earned an undergraduate degree from Russell Sage College, Troy, NY.

Ms. Grandes founded the Ackerman Institute for the Family's Alumni Association and maintains membership with the Collaborative Family Healthcare Association, the American Family Therapy Academy, the National Association of Social Workers, the Academy of Certified Social Workers and the International Family Therapy Association.

In recognition of her dedicated work, she was a Who's Who among Human Services Professionals honoree and received a Citizen Achievement Award for the coordination of a Town Hall meeting to prevent violence (in a pre-Columbine society) from Suffolk County executives and the Town of Southampton, NY.

The Parrish Art Museum, the Ackerman Institute of Family Therapy, Memorial Sloan Kettering, the Museum of Modern Art, Hospice, Water Mill Museum, Flint Hill School, VA and Cardinal Gibbons High School, Raleigh, NC lead the list of Ms. Grandes' favorite causes.
