Cheryl Hettman, Ph.D., Named VIP of the Year for Excellence in Nursing
Dr. Cheryl A. Hettman has spent 33 years as a registered nurse and 25 years as a nursing professor
CALIFORNIA, PA, July 18, 2011 /Education PR News/ -- Cheryl Hettman, Ph.D., RN, Chair of the Department of Nursing and Associate Professor at California University of Pennsylvania, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in nursing.
A registered nurse with 33 years of experience, Dr. Hettman retains an eclectic skill set that has enabled her to share her expertise with a wide audience of emerging nurses. "During my childhood, I loved school and playing the role of teacher," she says, adding that her decision to fuse her passions for teaching and nursing was patently obvious. For 25 years, she has taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels in traditional and online programs. Currently, she is an associate professor and chairperson of the Department of Nursing at California University of Pennsylvania.
In 1996, Dr. Hettman earned a Ph.D. in nursing from the University of Pittsburgh. To keep abreast of health care trends, she is affiliated with the American Nurses Association, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, and the International Council of Nursing. She also serves on the Editorial Board of the Pennsylvania Nurse, and she is currently the President of the National Association of Catholic Nurses-USA. Dr. Hettman has worked extensively in the area of global health, service learning, and she established a Learning Community between the university and Mustard Seed Communities headquartered in Kingston, Jamaica. She is also a representative for the Latin America/Caribbean Region on the International Education Council for the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.
