Christine B. Warian Named a Professional of the Year in Literacy Education
Christine Warian was recently selected for inclusion in Pro-Files Magazine
EDISON, NJ, July 22, 2011 /Education PR News/ -- Christine B. Warian, Educator and Reading Specialist for South Plainfield Public Schools, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in literacy education.
Ms. Warian discovered her love of children early in life, as she was the oldest grandchild in her extended family. Her interest in education as a career was sparked when she discovered that when she shared her knowledge with others, she could see a 'light bulb' moment in their eyes. For the first eight years of her teaching career, she was content being a classroom teacher in a Catholic school; however, when she was presented with a student in second grade who was reading on a kindergarten level, she felt called to help children who were not reading on grade level. Thus, she has served as a reading specialist for South Plainfield Public Schools for the past five years. Ms. Warian works with children in kindergarten through fourth grade and also functions as a school test coordinator. She is also an adjunct professor at Raritan Valley Community College.
In recognition of her exemplary work with children, Ms. Warian was recently named a Professional of the Year in Literacy Education by Cambridge Who's Who. She was also selected for inclusion in Pro-Files Magazine. Looking back, Ms. Warian considers the highlight of her career to be when she was asked to give lectures at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey to teachers from Jeollabuk-Do, Korea. Miss Warian spoke about literacy programs in public education and classroom management skills. The lectures took place during the summer months of 2001, 2002, and 2003. Ms. Warian plans to teach at the collegiate level in the years to come.
Ms. Warian is pursuing a Doctor of Education and a dyslexia specialist certification. In 2003, she earned a Master of Arts in reading specialization from Kean University. She holds an Orton-Gillingham instructor certification and is a certified teacher in the state of New Jersey. Ms. Warian also remains current in her industry through numerous professional affiliations, including the National Education Association, International Reading Association, and The International Dyslexia Association.
