Frances N. Cervoni-Curet Recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Medical Research
Frances Cervoni-Curet plans to focus her career on researching breast cancer in minority groups
BETHESDA, MD, August 29, 2011 /Education PR News/ -- Frances N. Cervoni-Curet, Postbaccalaureate Student of the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in medical research.
Ever since her teen years, Ms. Cervoni-Curet has been involved in philanthropic causes. During high school, she was a member of the Model United Nations, and organized a group that did community work with HIV and cancer patients. She extends her involvement to the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health, where she hones her expertise in cancer biology as a postbaccalaureate student. In addition to conducting breast cancer research, she works with a team member to study the effects of stress and abuse on tumors, and acts as an interpreter for the medical clinic. The recipient of a Cancer Research Training Award, Ms. Cervoni-Curet attributes her success to the support of her parents, who were great mentors that helped her maintain her focus and stay on the right track.
Ms. Cervoni-Curet earlier obtained a bachelor's degree in microbiology from Universidad de Puerto Rico. She is a member of IEEE and the Golden Key International Honour Society. At the beginning stages of an exciting career, she looks forward to attending medical school and eventually earning a post as a physician scientist, researching incidents of breast cancer among minorities.
