Marcia May Recognized for Excellence in Education
Ms. May's adaptability has enabled her to thrive as an educator
NAALEHU, HI, August 16, 2011 /Education PR News/ -- Marcia May, Educator for the State of Hawaii, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in education.
A veteran educator, Marcia May has demonstrated her dedication to child development and quality academics. She has spent the last 25 years of her professional career in the Hawaiian school system, specializing in early childhood education. Ms. May currently works with kindergarten students, instructing them in all subjects and helping them develop independence.
Ms. May was first inspired to teach by her fifth-grade teacher, and the support she has received from her family has served as the driving force behind her success. In addition, she feels that her adaptability has enabled her to thrive as an educator. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field, Ms. May was selected for inclusion in Who's Who Among American Teachers and was presented with an award for excellence in education by the Hawaii governor's office. In 2010, Ms. May was named a Professional of the Year in Education by Cambridge Who's Who.
Ms. May holds a master's degree in psychology from the University of Hawaii, where she also earned 110 graduate credits in education. She previously received a Bachelor of Science in child development from the University of Arizona. In addition, Ms. May attended the University of the South, where she studied theology. She is a licensed teacher in the state of Hawaii and is certified as a first responder by the American National Red Cross. Her professional affiliations include Kappa Kappa Gamma, the Hawaii State Teachers Association, the Mental Health Association for Hawaii County, the Entrepreneurs and Professional Network, and AAUW.
