Pauline 'Polly' Rauh, Ed.D. to Appear in Cambridge Publishing's Top 101 Industry Expert Book Representing Curriculum Development and Implementation
Dr. Rauh has displayed an unwavering dedication to improving the lives of the children of Stamford
Stamford, CT, August 19, 2011 /Education PR News/ -- Pauline 'Polly' Rauh, Ed.D., former Chairwoman of the Stamford Board of Representatives Education Committee and now President of the Stamford Public Schools Board of Education and past Curriculum Committee Chair, will soon be featured in Cambridge Publishing's Top 101 Industry Experts book. The Top Industry Experts reveals the objectives and triumphs prominent Cambridge members have achieved to gain success. Selected from more than 400,000 executives, professionals and entrepreneurs, these exemplary leaders stay at the top of their fields by possessing unique experience and wisdom, all the while exhibiting innovation in their work.
For more than 40 years, Dr. Rauh has displayed an unwavering dedication to improving the lives of the taxpaying citizens and children of Stamford. As the education committee chairwoman and personnel committee vice chairwoman for the City of Stamford 27th Board of Representatives, she collaborated with the Board of Education, on budget committees, redistricting schools and bringing citizens into important decision-making processes. She serves on the City Commission promoting energy improvement applications to the region. In addition, Dr. Rauh also served as the curriculum committee chair of the Board of Education for Stamford Public Schools. It is her hope to continue serving the district for years to come.
By immersing herself in the education system, Dr. Rauh was able to gain expertise in curriculum and instruction development and implementation. She worked as a superintendent in New York for four years, as a principal in Stamford for 14 years, and as a teacher (for pre-kindergarten through sixth-grade students). She has also been involved in staff development and instruction for pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade students at the district level.
Over the years, Dr. Rauh has observed that society does not always provide the best for children. "I think we need to address the needs from every angle and gain equity," she asserts. She would love to see Stamford education move in a direction whereby all students attend their school of choice. Her reasoning is that when both faculty and parents are in environments to which children are partial, a nurturing synergism emerges, where children can blossom.
Through her profession, Dr. Rauh feels great satisfaction working with other educators to improve instruction. She utilizes sharp, analytical thinking skills and broad open-mindedness to bring people to a consensus. In 1974, she set up a staff development symposium in Stamford — people from all over the country attended. The event was so successful that to this day, it remains an intrinsic part of Stamford's education improvement initiative.
Dr. Rauh received a Doctor of Education in 1980 from Teachers College-Columbia University. In her spare time, she volunteers for a local child care learning center's fundraising and program committees. She also participates in the activities of the Stamford Downtown Special Services District and on the City School Building Committee. She enjoys reading, travel, and collecting art.
