Ricardo Espinosa Named Professional of the Year in Higher Education

For three decades, Professor Espinosa has demonstrated his commitment to education

CRYSTAL CITY, TX, September 08, 2011 /Education PR News/ -- Ricardo Espinosa, Professor for Texas International University, has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in higher education. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

Thirty-five years ago, Mr. Espinosa established his career as an educator at Crystal City High School. Although tasked with many responsibilities, including teaching political science, Spanish, and English, he was particularly dedicated to his role as a mentor. He focused on preparing students for junior and four-year colleges, as well as teaching migrant students so they could achieve a GED. He retired from this position in the wake of a personal illness; however, Mr. Espinosa, who is passionate about education, recuperated and came out of retirement five years ago. He obtained his current position after a short stint as a substitute teacher.

Mr. Espinosa attributes his success to the support of his mother, who did not give him a choice but to continue his education. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science from St. Mary's University in 1975, and a master's degree in school administration from Sul Ross State University in 1985. Elected as a school board trustee in November 2010, he is active with the Texas Classroom Teachers Association and APE. Looking forward, he intends to propel the school district to a higher level.
