Taylor Rae Phelps Named Professional of the Year in Education

Taylor R. Phelps established a reputation for working hard, staying late and getting along with everyone

PORTSMOUTH, VA, September 06, 2011 /Education PR News/ -- Taylor Phelps, Retired Teacher for Suffolk Public Schools, has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Education. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

Ms. Phelps remembers deciding in first grade that she was going to become a teacher. Today, she celebrates more than three decades of professional experience in the field of education. Now retired, Ms. Phelps most recently served as a teacher for Suffolk Public Schools, where she taught pre-algebra and life science to seventh graders. She was known for working hard, staying late and getting along with everyone.

A graduate of Old Dominion University, Ms. Phelps holds a bachelor's degree and is certified to teach fourth through eighth grade. She was named Teacher of the Year in 2000, an achievement she recalls as one of the highlights of her career. Ms. Phelps was also recently selected for inclusion in Pro-Files Magazine. Though she had to retire for medical reasons, she would have loved to continue teaching. However, she plans to enjoy her retirement by spending more time outdoors. In addition, she enjoys reading, quilting and spending time with her two cats.
